40 gold bars seized at Dhaka airport

The customs intelligence authorities on Tuesday seized 40 gold bars worth Tk 2.10 corer at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. The authorities unearthed the gold bars weighing around 4.6 kilograms from inside a commode near conveyor belt no. 5 in the customs hall at the airport at around 11:00am, customs intelligence officials said. The seized gold bars were unattended and unclaimed for and the officials suspect that the precious metals were left behind for someone to smuggle those out of the airport, Umme Nahida Akhter, assistant director (AD) of customs intelligence said.
