Bangladesh win 8 more golds

The Bangladeshi athletes continued their good run in the Special Olympics: Asia Pacific Games in Newcastle, Australia for the fourth successive day after winning eight gold medals on Thursday. On the fourth day of the Games, Bangladesh won a total of 19 medals – eight golds, six silvers and five bronze medals. From the eight gold medals, Bangladesh clinched six golds in the track and field, two each in badminton and bocce doubles and one in swimming.
Sagor Ahmed won the 200metre gold medal while Chaity Akter claimed the 100m gold. Humayun Kabir earned another gold medal in the 200m sprint event.
Munni Akter and Rabeya Khatun won the women’s badminton doubles gold while Jakia Sultana and Sadia Urmi won the bocce doubles gold medal for Bangladesh.
In the 50m freestyle, Parul Akter finished first while swimmer Kobita Khatun won two silver medals in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke event.
The Bangladesh women’s 100X4 relay team won four bronze medals while Kaniz Fatema and Ratan Miah won the 100m and 200m silver medals respectively.
